Composer and flamenco guitarist Cañizares is set to have the World Premiere of his new Quintet for String and Guitar No.1 Las Lunas de Madrid at the Centro Nacional de Difusión Musical on 17 November alongside the renowned Cuarteto Quiroga.
Commissioned by the CNDM, the Quintet Las Lunas de Madrid is Cañizares’ personal homage to the great composer Boccherini who arrived in Madrid in 1768. During his time in the Spanish capital, Boccherini composed his Quintet Fandango from which Cañizares has established a musical dialogue to shape this new composition that we will be able to hear for the first time tonight at CNDM with Cañizares on the guitar and Cuarteto Quiroga with a programme that will also include Boccherini’s Fandango and String Quartet No.3 as well as Ginastera’s String Quartet No.1.
