2022 marked the release of Mari Samuelsen’s second album for the distinctive Yellow Label – Duetsche Gramophon, where she is signed as an exclusive artist. The album named LYS, meaning “light” in Norwegian features new commissions, written especially for Mari, from the likes of Hannah Peel, Anna Meredith, Laura Massoto and MEREDI as well as existing works from Caroline Shaw and Hildur Guðnadóttir.
With LYS in its core, Mari Samuelsen stuns audiences with a new immersive multi-genre show combining atmospheric music, visual arts, dazzling light design and choreography. Following the success of similar programmes such as ‘Yoga, Meditation & Sleep’ by Max Richter, this is a format that guarantees success amongst young and new audiences to violin, orchestral and post classical music, informed by Mari’s own global fanbase. Her presence, popularity and the impact of her music among new audiences is astonishing, having reached over 100 million views across her videos on YouTube.
